Sewer Taps for Multi-Unit Residential Complex in Victor

Asphalt cut to open the tie-in

Project Description

Client:   Zip Kit Homes
Location:   Victor, Idaho
Year Completed:   2024

This project included running approx 300-ft of sewer line from a multi-unit building to the City of Victor sewer mainline. This line had to be installed along the property line due to existing buildings on property. We had to cut and repair the city stormwater piping.

The Challenges

This installation was very difficult. It started with Engineering providing plans that included sewer routing that did not meet code. We had to re-route the line around the back of the facilities and tie into the sewer mainline 300-ft away.

Sewer Taps for Multi-Unit Residential Complex

Project Description

Client:   Alpine Home Builders
Location:   Driggs, Idaho
Year Completed:   2023

This particular sewer connect included a four-building apartment complex. Engineering called for a single 4″ line from each building. In order to meet code, we had to excavate a large portion of the sewer mainline (City of Driggs). Groundwater was a problem that required us to perform this installation in late summer and required the use of pumps to keep the trench clear.

The Challenges

Excavating sewer mainline is always a difficult chore. This specific mainline did not have tracer wire, and could not be located. We ‘Witched’ the dig area and roughly located the mainline. Upon excavation, groundwater was present. We had to make the call to bury the excavation and return later in the year. Groundwater was still present, but had dropped several feet. A 4″ trash pump was used to keep the excavation area dry while making the hot taps.
